Lewis, playing his music in San Francisco, runs into the son of an old friend. The lad (Parks) isn't sure if he should wed the gal he loves since he is soon to go off fight to in WW II and doesn't want to make his new bride a widow. Lewis tells him a story, in flashback, of a WW I vet who,
