Question: I saw a movie when I was a kid about Martians taking over a town; they had long, glasslike needles coming out of their fingers and I think the brightness of car headlights killed them. I also think most of the characters were teenagers.
Answer: Sounds like Invasion of the Saucer Men (1957), a particularly threadbare entry in the welter of teen-oriented sci-fi pictures produced by American International Pictures. And it wasn't as threadbare as the 1965 remake The Eye Creatures, which was a very sorry bit of business indeed.
