Whalen is a reporter with a heart. He wants to find the loneliest woman in New York and show her an old-fashioned Christmas on a farm. He meets Rogers, whom he believes to be a stenographer. Actually she's a tough nightclub owner, but her toughness wears down with the Christmas spirit and
she learns to enjoy the simpler things life offers. There is a subplot involving a murder Whalen is investigating, for which Rogers helps him compile evidence. Though too sentimental, this is a nice film. This was tall, dark, and handsome Cortez's first directorial effort after 16 years as an
actor and a good debut.
