A gang of crooks enlists the services of an American safecracking expert, but he is intercepted by Scotland Yard detectives and arrested on an old charge. The gangsters bust the safecracker out of prison, not knowing the police have planted a phony, Sylvester, in his place. He is taken to the home of Brown and Sesselmann, but runs off when Sesselmann kills her husband and tries to pin it on Sylvester. Hiding out at the home of the kindly Baddeley, Sylvester contacts the criminal mastermind, Underdown. The safe is finally cracked and secret government plans are stolen.
