Above average Monogram thriller that undoubtedly was one of the reasons Goddard dedicated his classic film BREATHLESS (1959) to this B-picture studio. Douglas, mistaken for another man, is savagely beaten. He sets out to find out why and discovers he's an exact double for a notorious gangster. He stumbles onto both murder and love while exposing a gang of thieves. There's plenty of action along the way, with Monogram's patented gunfights and brawling. Though he ends up bullet ridden and hospitalized, Douglas brings the crooks to justice and wins Frazee's heart. The direction is nicely paced and keeps the lean script moving along nicely. Despite a miniscule budget, the production looks first rate. leave a comment
