Prison psychologist Newley attempts to help young inmates come to terms with themselves. Most of his efforts are aimed at gang leader Booth. Though there are some genuinely funny moments in the film, Newley is miscast as the compassionate psychologist. Though relatively straightforward for its first half, the plot becomes convoluted and the motivations are twisted in the second half. Bart, who provided the song "Must Be" for the film, would go on to write the successful musical "Oliver!" The title is British slang for "in prison." leave a comment
