Pleasant, if bland, music-filled remake of THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER. Not up to the usual Garland standards, this is an example of MGM's assembly line product, built to milk Garland's show-stopping for studio coffers. She and a rather annoying Van Johnson play antagonistic co-workers in
a Chicago music store at the turn of the century who don't realize they are pen pals. She plays piano and sells music; he pushes musical instruments. The cooler they are to each other at work, the hotter their letters become. By the end they are in each other's arms, but not before a mixup occurs
