Illegally Yours

In ILLEGALLY YOURS director Bogdanovich again tries to revive the Cary Grant-style screwball comedy but can't pull it off. With Lowe in the Grant role, the film is a series of comic mishaps involving a blackmailer, a corpse, an incriminating audiotape, an innocent woman (Camp) who accidentally picks up the tape, and a pair of teenage blackmail victims (Myers and Straten). Into these madcap events steps Lowe--a bespectacled mensch who, despite being jobless and loveless, nonetheless optimistically expects to turn his life around.
