This Bing vehicle doesn't have the charm and wit of his other attempts, especially with him oddly cast as a construction worker. When a fellow worker is killed, Bing becomes the guardian of his 12-year-old daughter, Gloria Jean. Together they set out for New York in search of her vaudevillian uncle. Along with Brendel, they find their man. Brendel, however, wastes the trio's money by purchasing a run-down restaurant. Bing saves the day when he turns it into a swinging night spot. Songs include: "I Haven't The Time To Be A Millionaire," "Meet The Sun Halfway," "April Played The Fiddle," "The Pessimistic Character (With The Crab Apple Face)" (Johnny Burke, James V. Monaco), "If I Had My Way" (Lou Klein, James Kendis), "Ida, Sweet As Apple Cider" (Eddie Leonard, Eddie Munson), and "Rings On My Fingers" (Maurice Scott, R.P. Western, F.J. Barnes). leave a comment
