Solid, acidic chemistry between John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton and some refreshingly intelligent dialogue from writer-director Robert Benton keep this tight little comedic thriller cooking. It's Christmas Eve in Kansas, and a mob lawyer (John Cusack) and his partner-in-crime (Thornton), have just helped themselves to an early Christmas present: $2.2 million belonging to their boss (Quaid). Ramis-Cusack Film Seeks an Ice Break

There are a lot of movie directors who spend their entire careers working in a single genre.
