Eddy plays Count Willie Palaffi, a bored, very rich playboy and bank owner in Budapest. All the single women in town attend a massive costume party in honor of Willie's birthday, parading before the eligible bachelor in the hope of becoming his bride; however, seeking to escape their attentions, Willie decides to dance with one of his employees, Anna (MacDonald), a shy, unassuming girl, costumed as an angel, whom the rest of the guests scorn.
