Ralston is a French girl on trial for murder, and through flashbacks we find out why. During WW II she got involved with Carroll, a well-to-do soldier. They married, but after the war he disappeared. She comes to the United States and finds that he is married to another woman. He tries to
get her deported, and she accidentally kills him. She is found guilty of murder, but when it's discovered that she's pregnant, the widow comes to her defense.
