Crawford, a gangster who fancies himself a lyricist, wants to write a song that will act as a message for his long-lost love Moran. He kidnaps composer Downs to take care of the music, and together they create a song that sends Moran running to the gangster. A ludicrous story without even a
single moment of film entertainment. Songs include the hit "I Can't Give You Anything But Love" (Dorothy Fields, Jimmy McHugh), "Sweetheart of School 59," and "Day by Day" (Paul Gerard Smith, Frank Skinner).
