Osborne is a passive woman who knows of her husband's longtime affair with another woman, Compton, but does nothing about it. She refuses to give her husband, Brook, a divorce even after he leaves and moves in with Compton. Osborne allows Brook to drop in occasionally to visit with the children, but treats him as if he were just another house guest. She believes that Brook will come home eventually, and he does after Compton, frustrated with her mistress status, commits suicide by taking poison. leave a comment
