The alternative title of this Italian-made Vietnam War film, THE HUNTER OF THE APOCALYPSE, betrays its two most obvious influences--APOCALYPSE NOW and THE DEER HUNTER. Borrowing bits and pieces of the plots, approaches, and titles of great films isn't the way to go about making another great war film, however, as this inept production demonstrates. The story follows captain Warbeck) as he and a team that includes a fetching war correspondent (Farrow, sister of Mia) cross into enemy territory to destroy a radio transmitter broadcasting propaganda. Much to Warbeck's surprise, he learns that the woman responsible for the broadcasts is none other than his best pal's sweetheart. leave a comment
