While on a trip to Japan, businessman Paul Racine (Christopher Lambert) lucks into a sizzling one-night stand with a mysterious beauty (Joan Chen) in a slinky red dress. Soon after, he witnesses the woman's ritual murder and finds himself on the run from an army of ninjas bent on slicing him into gaijin sushi. Written and directed by Jonathan Lawton (screenwriter of PRETTY WOMAN), THE HUNTED is superior genre filmmaking: the well-staged action is nearly non-stop, production values are suitably glossy, and the cast -- from the underrated Lambert to the slumming John Lone (M. BUTTERFLY) -- give conventional material surprising vigor. leave a comment
