Stylishly directed chase film from Lewis who had previously shown his talent in GUN CRAZY. Gassman plays a reed-hopping fugitive who is closely trailed by Sullivan through Louisiana's swamplands. The location, which is strikingly photographed, adds to the gritty sweatiness of the pursuit. While being transported to a courthouse to play informer, Gassman makes his move and escapes.
