The weakest film version of Victor Hugo's classic novel stars Quinn as the misshapen bellringer who is hopelessly in love with gypsy girl Lollobrigida. Quinn is passable as Quasimodo (though he doesn't hold a candle to Lon Chaney, Sr., or to Charles Laughton), while Lollobrigida is perhaps
too sexy as Esmeralda. The production is slow and ponderous, as are most of the performances, leaving only the Technicolor and widescreen presentation of Paris as points of interest.
