Based on a novel by Larry McMurtry, this blistering adult western broke new ground with its stark depiction of an unglamorous West and a decidedly anti-heroic lead character. Paul Newman is awesome as the title character, an insensitive, crude, amoral and irresponsible lout who's continually at odds with his father, a noble rancher played by Oscar-winner Melvyn Douglas. Patricia Neal, who won for Best Supporting Actress, co-stars as the put-upon housekeeper. Read the complete review for Hud
