A good Colonial period drama that failed to catch fire at the box office, THE HOWARDS OF VIRGINIA uses just a portion of Elizabeth Page's gigantic novel The Tree Of Liberty, because to have shot the entire book might have made for a six-hour film. Shot at John D.
