A fish-out-of-water comedy about a street-smart con man who descends upon the suburban home of the stuffiest white people who ever lived, HOUSEGUEST is a long riff on an ancient premise (Boody Saved From Drowning?). Sinbad is on the run from neighborhood toughs and, through a series of
wildly improbably circumstances, winds up mistaken for a world-famous dentist. He discovers he's been invited to stay at the home of college friend Phil Hartman, whose family is the usual bunch of white-bread neurotics, and Sinbad does his homeboy best to goose them out of their tight-assed funk.
Comedy at its most formulaic.
