In this very complex and sometimes confusing mystery, Peppard plays a boxer-turned-writer drifting in France. He stumbles upon a neofascist group (led by Michell, Welles, and Michael) that is attempting to overthrow France, annex Algeria, and take over Europe. Peppard takes a job in a Paris household as a tutor to Shaw, the 8-year-old son of lovely widow Stevens, whose husband was a general killed in the Algerian war. She believes that Shaw is the object of a kidnaping plot. When Peppard discovers that the neofacists do intend to kidnap Shaw, the conspirators frame the writer for murder. Peppard and Stevens go in search of the child and discover that Stevens' supposedly dead husband is alive and is the head of the fascist ring. A thrilling showdown in the Colosseum in Rome ensues, with Peppard, Stevens, and Shaw reunited at the end. leave a comment
