Superb Wyatt Earp saga, more or less a sequel to GUNFIGHT AT THE O.K. CORRAL, has Garner as the legendary lawman. The solemn Sturges western, taut and tight in every scene, begins with the celebrated gunfight and goes on to show how Garner's brothers, Converse and Melville, are ambushed by gunslingers in the employ of rustler Ryan. Garner slowly succumbs to vengeance, losing his high moral principles and disregarding the law.
