Farrar plays a young scientist with a lame foot that gives him a complex other people find hard to understand, thus leaving him a lonely person. But he is content with his work, finding occasional solace for his loneliness in drinking. When an enemy bomb threatens a number of people's
lives, Farrar finally wins some recognition for the confidence he displays while dismantling the bomb. The story's quiet, unsung hero is handled in a convincing manner by Farrar.
