The Hour Before The Dawn

This slow and often tedious film takes place in England during the early part of WW II. The story concerns Tone, a wealthy young man with a strong aversion to killing, who becomes a conscientious objector. Lake is a governess in his mansion and also a German spy. At the outbreak of the war, she marries Tone for protection. Because of his beliefs, he is deferred for farmwork, while Lake does her work for the enemy. After an air blitz, in which the Germans try to knock out a secret air strip in the vicinity of Tone's mansion, Lake is uncovered as a spy. Tone kills her in the end and joins the Royal Air Force.
