Upon the death of his mother, Goldthwaite inherits half of a successful brokerage business and a talking horse named Don (Candy). Fred's rotten stepfather (Coleman), who despises Goldthwaite, inherits the other half of the business. The film revolves around Coleman's efforts to get
Goldthwaite out, with Goldthwaite falling in love with a beautiful blonde (Madsen), and getting help from Don in his battles with Coleman. The old talking-animal routine gets a bit of an update in that this time the animal is vulgar and profane in a way Mr. Ed or Francis the Talking Mule would
never have been. But that's about the extent of the inventiveness in this unfunny comedy.
