"Socially relevant" at the time, now just an overblown, cliched anachronism, HONKY details an interracial relationship between young white man Nielson and rich black girl Sykes. They meet innocently enough in a Midwestern high school, becoming close friends and eventual lovers. This causes
endless tension between Nielson and his parents, and drives the couple out of their respective homes and into trouble with drug dealers. Eventually, the film leads to a grim climax which has Nielson beaten to a pulp by brutish whites who then rape Sykes.
