This amiable comedy from writer-director Andrew Bergman could have easily slipped into oblivion were it not for the stand-out performances by Nicolas Cage, in medium-wacky mode, and Sarah Jessica Parker. Cage plays a New York private detective who defies his mother's deathbed plea that he never marry and pops the question to girlfriend Parker.
