An amiable, if instantly forgettable, comedy, saved from oblivion by Nicolas Cage in medium-wacky mode.
Cage plays Jack Singer, a New York private detective haunted by his late mother's deathbed plea that he never marry. When, after years of procrastination, he finally pops the question to his schoolteacher girlfriend Betsy (Sarah Jessica Parker), she can't believe he's serious. "I must be serious,"
