This boxing melodrama invigorates its familiar formula with insight into the domestic battleground of parents and young adults. Bri Dukes's (Senait Ashenafi) intellectual parents envision Ivy League classrooms in her future, but amateur pugilist Bri prefers the gym. When her socially connected father, Larry Dukes (James Avery), gets wind of her plans to bypass college he tries to bribe her devoted trainer, Pablo (Pierre Perea).
