HOMEWARD BOUND II: LOST IN SAN FRANCISCO
starstarstarstar
All right already, so we cried a little during the first HOMEWARD BOUND movie. To be perfectly honest, by the time Shadow fell off the railroad tracks and broke his furry little leg, we were sobbing uncontrollably. So maybe we were expecting too much from this sequel, a perfunctory affair that relies heavily on bad puns and shopworn slapstick. This time out, Chance the bulldog (voice of Michael J. Fox), Sassy the cat (Sally Field) and grizzled retriever Shadow (Ralph Waite, subbing for the late Don Ameche) lose their way in the urban jungle of San Francisco -- which, in dramatic terms, makes a pretty weak substitute for the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest. We could write a screenplay about the time we got lost in Frisco, but Disney wouldn't touch it. leave a comment
