Home Before Dark

Simmons gives a superb performance that overcomes the glossy direction of LeRoy. She is returning home to husband O'Herlihy after spending time in a mental institution because of a breakdown. Upon her return, she finds her stepmother Albertson and stepsister Fleming. Since the hint of a possible romance between her husband and Fleming triggered the breakdown, Simmons is already on unsteady ground. She befriends Zimbalist, a colleague of her husband at a small New England college. He is the only Jewish faculty member and is disliked by O'Herlihy.
