Hombre: Review

Noble in intent, albeit somewhat heavy-handed, this was one of the earliest Westerns to offer an overtly sympathetic portrait of American Indians. It's also an extremely brutal film. Paul Newman stars as a white man raised by Apaches who much prefers their way of life to that of his own people. This was the sixth and last film Newman made with director Martin Ritt, a collaboration that resulted in the one of the finest films of either man's career: Hud. Read the complete review for Hombre
