Robert Forster (who also directed and produced) stars as a hard-boiled detective working the Hollywood beat. A failure in the business, Forster drowns his sorrows in alcohol and continually turns away potential customers, accepting money only from women desperate for some physical attention. Finally forced to take on a case, Forster investigates the disappearance of a wealthy farmer's daughter, who has vanished into the seamy underworld of pornography. Quite unexpectedly, Forster's 14-year-old niece (played by Kathrine Forster) drops in, announcing she is going to stay with her uncle now that her parents have passed on. Forster must now try to balance his investigation with his niece's inroads into the detective business, as well as fend off the advances of his secretary, Shannon Wilcox. Told with plenty of cliches but no imagination or style, HOLLYWOOD HARRY quickly grows confusing with its myriad plot twists. leave a comment
