Hollywood Barn Dance

1947, Movie, NR, 73 mins

Limp attempt to capitalize on a popular radio program of the same title. Tubb and his trio seek fame and fortune, and Hodgins, giving the film's only real performance, is a theatrical agent who takes them into his fold. They want to leave home to make enough money to replace the local church they somehow accidentally burned while practicing. How's that for motivation? Tubb has six solos among the 18 tunes scattered throughout film, including "Walking the Floor over You" and "You Nearly Lose Your Mind." Among the other songs are: "Oakie Boogie" (sung by Jack Guthrie), "Two Wrongs Don't Make a Right," "If It's a Dream," "Only Teasing Me."
