St. Jacques is a black ex-con who escapes from prison after doing time for a murder he didn't commit. He meets McCarthy, who offers him cash and safety in exchange for murdering his wealthy wife. St. Jacques declines and instead reminisces about his lost love, McNair. Realizing that he still wants her, he returns to McCarthy for his chance at freedom.
