A grim film with the New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration serving as its backdrop. Doctor Young, ex-fighter Wynn, and priest Anderson are three friends who grew up together in a poor New Orleans neighborhood. Young is in love with Rule. He is also fighting his ungrateful patients, poor people inherited from his father's practice.
