This sentimental Christmas movie features Leigh as the widowed mother of six-year-old charmer Gebert. The young lad wants a set of trains for the holiday and Leigh treks off to the department store to satisfy his wish. There she meets sales clerk Mitchum, who is immediately taken with her.
He spends his own money on the train set, winning her heart and incurring the wrath of her fiance, Corey. Mitchum gives a surprisingly strong performance as a character-type he normally steered away from. The picture was a box-office disaster, and as a result RKO cancelled director Hartman's
contract after this, his second film for the studio.
