1952, Movie, NR, 67 mins

The Bowery Boys meet "Pygmalion" in HOLD THAT LINE, in which a pair of university trustees encourage Slip (Leo Gorcey) and Sach (Huntz Hall) to enroll at an Ivy League school as a kind of sow's ear-silk purse experiment. In chemistry class, Sach concocts a vitamin that transforms him into a gridiron hero, much to the dismay of the team's reigning star (John Bromfield), who is in cahoots with gamblers. When the Big Game comes around, Sach is kidnaped, but though he reappears in the nick of time, it's up to another of the Boys to perform the last-minute heroics. Director William Beaudine handles the football action better than the comedy in this one, but there is still plenty of the usual Bowery Boys mayhem. leave a comment
