Livingston, Corrigan, and Terhune in yet another of the long-running "Three Mesquiteers" oaters. Nineteen-year-old Rita Hayworth, billed as Rita Cansino, makes an early screen appearance as a saloon songstress and gets to perform an original song, "Winding the Trail," with Livingston. The story tells of a bad cattle rancher, McGowan, who paints his horse to look like a wild stallion in order to rustle wild horses out of a federally protected area. When local sheriff Cassidy investigates, McGowan and his men trample him to death and blame it on a different wild stallion. The three heroes prove that the wild horse is innocent, and McGowan dies under the hooves of his own horse. Famous stuntman Canutt plays one of the rustlers, and does some fine stunt work. It is interesting to note that Livingston and Corrigan had conflicting personalities, which caused Livingston to eventually leave the series. He was replaced by a young John Wayne who did five more Mesquiteer films before riding off to better things. leave a comment
