Cooper and Colbert are totally wasted in this film. Cooper merely wanders about in his role as a tramp-freighter captain. His crew rescues a drifting Navy boat containing a baby. Instead of turning the child in to authorities, Cooper plans to take him back to the States. When he advertises
for a sea-going "mother" for the infant, Colbert enters the picture. She has had a shady past, but hears that Cooper is hiring a mother, so she dresses up like a prim and proper woman, tells a fantastic story, and gets the job--as well as a free trip back home. All is well until one of the
