This Hungarian-made film tells the story of a nouveau riche family--the patriarch of which rose from an expressman to a wealthy entrepreneur. He is a simple man who works hard all day, but his wife wants to be in high society, and to get their daughter to marry well. The daughter, however,
is in love with a worker in her father's firm. The wife shakes up the household by hiring a butler, Hippolyt, who has worked only for the aristocracy in the past, so he can educate the family in high-society living. Hippolyt tells the father that a real gentleman revels in nightlife and should
have at least one mistress. The father takes the butler's advice and falls for a dancer...
