Hillbillys In A Haunted House

1967, Movie, NR, 88 mins

The title really says it all. Country music stars Woody Weatherby and Boots Malone (Ferlin Husky and Joi Lansing) spend the night in a haunted mansion when they are caught in a storm en route to the Nashville Jamboree. There they run into the likes of Lon Chaney, Jr., John Carradine, Basil Rathbone, and a gorilla, all controlled by the insidious Madame Wong (Linda Ho), who is out to get an atomic formula. The film wastes the talents of both the once-major horror film stars and major country-and-western singers. It was an unfortunate memorial for Rathbone, this being the actor's last film, and for director Jean Yarbrough, who began his directorial career with Bela Lugosi in THE DEVIL BAT (1941). leave a comment
