Having been given the heave-ho by his wife Shirley (Nancy Allen), lonely Charles Duprey (William Forsythe) takes off for a Reno vacation. A good samaritan, Charles gives a lift to Hunter (James Legros), a magpie motorist with car trouble. After Hunter starts mouthing off about killing people, Charles wisely ditches him at a rest stop.
