Based on the book
Diary of a Negro Maid by Erksine Williams, this social expose stars Hall as a 17-year-old black servant whose skin is light enough to pass for white. Working as a maid at the home of Brown, a rich movie producer, she finds herself trapped in the sordid goings-on of Brown's
family. The family members include wife MacAdams, a hypochondriac, daughter Taylor, a nymphomaniac, and son Hammack, who was kicked out of West Point because he was accused (falsely) of having homosexual tendencies.
