HIGH SIERRA
starstarstarstar
With exception of White Heat, this was the movie gangster's last stand, and features one of Humphrey Bogart's greatest performances. He plays a graying criminal loosely who knows that his heyday is past and fatalistically pursues the only goal he understands: a final caper. Beautifully written by John Huston and directed with great sensitivity by Raoul Walsh, this landmark crime film dares to sympathize with the bad guy, and features one of the most emotionally wrenching fade-outs ever. With Ida Lupino and Arthur Kennedy. Read the complete review for High Sierra
