Stone (James Brolin), a documentary filmmaker, discovers the South American whereabouts of drug dealer Serrano (James Coburn), who has $5 million waiting to be stolen. He then persuades three nonviolent buddies (Cleavon Little, Bruce Davison, Chick Vennera) to leave their jobs and help him rip off the money, assuring them that they won't have to use the guns he's outfitted them with. Plenty of shooting takes place, however, when the heist doesn't go as smoothly as Stone envisioned it.
