Milland is the commanding officer of a flight training school that prepares young Brits for the RAF. He comes up against a feisty cadet in Haigh, who seems to specialize in reckless abandon. Milland has a special disapproval for the youngster's brand of foolishness since he himself was
responsible for the death of Haigh's father due to carelessness. Only after Milland saves Haigh during maneuvers, in which the boy gets injured, does Haigh begin to wise up.
