Wartime comedy about a producer Gl assigned to stage a show at an Army base. His problems in getting it done on a budget of $209 charge up the plot and send the film on its way to forced funniness as in so many similar musicals of the time. Songs include "There Goes Taps," "When the Yardbirds Come to Town," "So What Serenade," "Keep 'em Happy," "He's Got a Wave in His Hair (and a WAC on His Hands)," "Hey, Rookie," "Take a Chance," "You're Good for My Morale," "It's Great to Be in a Uniform," "American Serenade," "Streamlined Sheik," "It's a Swelluva Life in the Army" (Henry Myers, Edward Eliscu, Jay Gorney, Sgt. J.C. Lewis). leave a comment
