Though it tries to present a hard-hitting portrait of Brooklyn street gangs in the 1950s, this animated feature's cartoon characters simply don't intimidate. Richard Romanus and David Proval, two of the stars of Martin Scorsese's MEAN STREETS, are among the voice actors. The film is fairly
vulgar and, thanks mainly to absurd exaggerations, surprisingly funny at times.
